Facts/History

Here is a very brief history of SIPS

- Used since 1940's, Pioneered by Frank L. Wright in the 30's and Alden B. Dow.

- Structurally similar to wide flanges (see image)

- Most commonly filled with EPS, less commonly used is XPS (extruded polystyrene) and urethane.

- Typical sizes range from 4ft x 8ft to 9ft x 28ft sizes, with 4.5in - 12.25in thickness. Typical OSB thickness of 7/16.
